Energy Camp

Canyon Camp, near Hinton, OK, is home to the Electric Cooperatives of Oklahoma Youth Power Energy Camp. Local cooperatives select outstanding eighth grade students from their service areas to participate in the camp where they’ll experience first-hand the exciting world of rural electricity. Students get to watch safety demonstrations, climb a power line pole, and watch a co-op crew at work. Plus, Canyon Camp offers volleyball tournaments, swimming, hiking and roasting marshmallows over an evening campfire.

While attending Energy Camp, students get the opportunity to sharpen their leadership skills by working with new found friends from every corner of the state. Youth Power Energy Camp is not only designed to help campers develop their leadership skills, but also to have summertime fun while at the same time learning about one of rural America’s most important industries – rural electrification. Best of all, campers will make friendships that will last a lifetime!
