Brent Meador named new Northfork Electric General Manager
The Board of Trustees of Northfork Electric Cooperative is pleased to announce that, after an exhaustive three-month nationwide search, Brent Meador is the co-op’s new General Manager.
Extensive investigations into the experience of potential candidates were held, but after three rounds of interviews it was ultimately Meador’s qualifications that led to his hiring. He is no stranger to NFEC, having served on the Board of Trustees for four years before resigning that position and taking the helm as General Manager/Chief Financial Officer.
"We are fortunate to have the opportunity to hire someone with Brent's abilities,” said NFEC Board of Trustees President Jimmy Taylor. “After a thorough search and much debate, the board came to the conclusion that Brent is the person we need to guide Northfork through our current challenges and to move the co-op forward into the future."
Meador comes to the co-op after serving almost 20 years as a lender at First National Bank & Trust of Elk City, most recently serving as the Executive Vice President-Senior Lender since 2014. Meador and his wife, Kassie, are the owners of Meador Angus Farms in Elk City where they manage a pure-bred Angus herd. She also works as a Financial Coordinator for Measurement Control Specialists in Elk City. The couple resides on the family farm south of Elk City with their two very active children who attend Elk City Public Schools. Jill is a sophomore and Austin is in the seventh grade.
Meador received a B.S. in Business Management at Southwestern Oklahoma State University-Weatherford in May 2000 before entering the banking industry that September.
Meador will be the co-op’s eighth General Manager since the lights first came on in 1939. He will become part of the co-op’s rich history serving southwest Oklahoma, continuing the organization through the co-op’s unique business model.
He has been very involved in the community having been a member of the Elk City Kiwanis Club and the Elk City Chamber of Commerce for over 20 years. Currently serving as president, he has been a member of the Elk City Education Foundation since 2010. Meador is also the Vice Chairman of the Beckham County Excise Board, where he has served for five years.
Meador expressed excitement about his new role. “I am very blessed to have this opportunity with Northfork Electric with family and longevity as top priorities, the very same priorities that have been instilled in me at The First National Bank. I look forward to working with the co-op’s great employees and carrying on the legacy of co-op values,” said Meador.
Meador succeeds Scott Copeland who retires after nearly 29 years as General Manager. Meador’s first day at the co-op is February 1.
Northfork Electric Cooperative is headquartered in Sayre, Oklahoma. The cooperative was established in 1939. It serves 3,299 members in seven counties (Beckham, Custer, Dewey, Greer, Harmon, Roger Mills, and Washita.)
