Atha, Harris attend Oklahoma’s Electric Cooperatives Leadership Summit
Thirty-five students, representing Oklahoma’s Electric Cooperatives, attended the 2025 Oklahoma’s Electric Cooperatives Leadership Summit on March 17, 2025, at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds. Eden Atha, a junior at Cheyenne School and Kira Harris, a junior at Hammon School, were selected as student representatives for Northfork Electric at Leadership Summit this year.
This annual event is designed to reward and motivate high school students across Oklahoma with a $500 scholarship and a refreshed purpose to grow as community leaders. Since the program was established, more than 550 Oklahoma high school students have been recognized for their leadership abilities by attending previous Leadership Summits.
The program featured highly sought after and hilarious speakers, Kelly Barnes and Bill Cordes. The dynamic leaders shared stories and ideas to prepare the students with the tools needed to thrive. The high-energy summit encouraged the next generation of student leaders to strategically evaluate their values and set impactful goals. The participants gained powerful strategies to strive for success with confidence. Students departed motivated, recharged and inspired to reach for their goals while staying true to what matters most.
“We’re proud to sponsor our future leaders for these opportunities to grow in their leadership,” said Connie Ferrero, Youth Services Coordinator for NFEC. “Both Eden and Kira are excellent representatives of the co-op and their schools and will no doubt continue onto great things as they enter their senior year.”
Oklahoma’s Electric Cooperatives serve a portion of all 77 counties in Oklahoma. While focusing on member needs, cooperatives work for the sustainable development of their communities through programs, services and policies developed by member-elected boards. Cooperatives are grounded on the premise of neighbors helping neighbors, while powering the needs of new generations.
